Live Stork nesting

A new attempt at nesting by the White Stork in the Municipality of Prato: at the end of March 2013, a pair of storks is nesting on a pylon in Terna, in the same place used last year, near the town of Iolo and Lake Ombrone, where an environmental requalification action was carried out by the Province of Prato as part of the EU LIFE "SCI d'acqua" project.

The Ombrone wetland area is included in the "Ponds of the Florentine and Prato Plain" Special Protection Area (a site of community importance in the European Natura 2000 network).

The Prato Natural Science Centre, with the support of the Province of Prato, Terna and other institutions and companies, has installed a webcam allowing us to observe the pair's behaviour close up and in real time. We would particularly like to thank the Astrella family, who permitted the webcam to be installed in their home.
